About this app

A new remote control app for MediaPortal 1 (http://www.team-mediaportal.com/)

Easy control for your MediaPortal from your android device!

Supports TV, Series, Movies, Radio, OnlineVideos

Play, pause, timeshift, record, replay, lock screen widget, great tv guide

Requirements:
Mediaportal 1, version 1.6 or newer
MPExtended 0.5.4 (older versions may work, but i did not test them)
WifiRemote 0.8.3 (older versions may work, but i did not test them)
better with tvserver, MP-TVSeries, MovingPictures (server side plugins for MediaPortal)

MPExtended and WifiRemote need the same user/password on the server for the app to work.
TV uses always the first channel group (mail me if you need support for different channel groups)

It's not bad but I have a few gripes. When Mediaportal hasn't been started, the app gives a "Timeout when connecting" error and takes me to the settings. I know this occurs because the wifi remote plugin is only enabled when Mediaportal has started but the app should simply disable controls or warn the user that wifi remote cannot be connected rather than implying that the user's settings are wrong. Good UI design is important! The second gripe is that the app should have an option to launch Mediaportal - in fact, I believe it is essential. The point of the remote control is to be able to control everything remotely. It rather defeats the purpose if the user has to manually launch Mediaportal before using the remote - rather like a TV remote that eschews an of/off button and requiring the user to manually switch on the TV prior to usage of the remote control. I know MPExtended supports API to launch MediaPortal so this app should take advantage of this. Finally, what happened to Music? When I select Music, nothing is shown. However, while Music is selected, I change to Online Videos and the list of Music folders are briefly shown before the display changes to Online Videos

I found other MP remotes buggy, however this one is solid. I would like to see improvements to the design (left and right scroll at the top is awkward), however it is a great app!
